The most important supplier of vaccines in Canada,
GlaxoSmithKline has invested more than fifty million dollars in
its North American headquarters located in Laval. The Laval scientists
will conduct research and development of the following fields:
adjuvants, molecular biology, immunology, vaccines targeting respiratory
viruses, oncology and allergies as well as developing key processes.
This major development for patients allows GSK Biologicals to offer
a broader line of innovative vaccines that increase not only the
quality of life of Canadian citizens but also those of other countries
world wide. GSK is employing over 3300 people in Canada including
1400 in Quebec and its investments in research and development
together with pharmaceutical products have reached two hundred
million dollars.
